Pixilation

To do a pixilation animation,  you will need an assistant - as pixilation is animation using still images of people. You take a still image of someone, move them into a slightly different position, take another still image and so on. hen played back, these still images will look like they are moving.

Here is an example of a Pixilation animation for a shoe advert made by the animator, PES.

Cut Out animation class exercise - completed animation

2 cars vs a washing machine the a spaceship

This is the finished animation made using cut out animation techniques

Cut out animation uses pictures from newspapers, magazines, or the internet, which can be put together in different ways, like a collage. Then a still picture is taken of these images, and the cut outs moved very slightly. Then another picture taken - and so on. When played back, these cut out images will look like they are moving as an animation sequence.

Unlike model based animation, cut out has to bemade with the camera above looking down.

Here is an example of cut out animation:Terry Gilliam from Monty Python's Flying Circus

The Zoetrope

The Zoetrope

Animation was made by setting a series of images in a round metal drum that had slits and in the inside there are  pictures, with a sequence of eachone doing something slightly different. When you look through the slits it would look like it was moving. It was some thing that you would show to people after dinner as a form of amusement.
